![]() Think you’ve a little D.I.Y job to keep you going over the next few weeks? Well, we think we’ve found a slightly larger one. This front room was found within a derelict house near Tywyn, Wales. The building was almost overlooked by the photographer, who, taking photos of another house just a few metres away, was curious where a gateway led but unable to see the house itself due to thick trees having grown around it. This is an image with a thousand interpretations. It shows there can be beauty in destruction, and is an example of what can be found if you open your eyes and mind, just a little. We love the colours, the textures, the bath, that sense of nature reclaiming her own. It’s amazing what you can find if you take the time to look around once in a while, otherwise you could just miss something special. This is summed up for us by the photographer Walker Evans… ‘A ruin is more interesting than a freshly completed building, it shows the effects of time and experience.’ For full article and further Photo of the week images, visit: http://www.pocketfulofrye.co.uk/hot-topics/a-little-doer-upper Launched in March 2013, Pocketful of Rye is aimed at yummy mummies and dishy dads on the look out for news, features and reviews covering all things family - homewares, babycare, toys, entertainment, food, health and beauty.
